Mumbai, venue of the semifinals and final of the Indian Premier League earlier this year, would host the final of the Champions Twenty20 League featuring eight teams from five countries for a total prize money of US$ 6 million in December.
The other venues for hosting the 15 matches in the December 3-10 event, founded by the cricket boards of India, Australia and South Africa, would be Bangalore and Chennai, it was announced at a media conference in Mumbai today by Champions League chairman Lalit Modi.
The Champions T20 League is the culmination of the IPL and will see the best among the best domestic teams competing to find out who is the best of them all with the winners taking home US$ three million.
Besides IPL champions Rajasthan Royals and runners-up Chennai Super Kings, Western Australia Warriors and Victoria Rangers from Australia, Titans and Dolphins from South Africa, England S T20 champions Middlesex and the yet-to-be crowned T20 champions of Pakistan are to take part in the tournament.
Teams participating in the tournament will be placed under two groups of four each. The top two sides in groups A and B will qualify for the crosswise semi-finals.
